Product Downloads Fail

Products: Portlock Storage Manager Client and all products that support Check for Updates.

Issue: Product downloads fail with an incorrect file size or MD5 error message.

Resolution: Go to File -> Properties. Select the Downloads tab. Disable Enable downloads to use SSL and disable Enable multi-threaded downloads.

Additional information: This problem typically appears with certain web proxy servers. For an unknown reason either the content-length header and / or the actual file contents are modified. In some cases old cached data is returned which will not match expected data when a new release happens.

Technical Information: Portlock Storage Manager Client supports using SSL for communications with our servers. This is not enabled by default. To improve download performance, multi-threaded downloads are enabled by default. Multi-threaded downloads use several threads to download different parts of a large file at the same time.
